I am from the US government and I am here to help you!
The following statement was copied from a Yahoo headline this morning.

"WASHINGTON - Consumer prices plunged by the largest amount in more than a half-century in November as gasoline prices fell by a record amount."

I guess that is supposed to make us feel like we can afford the 11.50% increase being added on to our monthly residential power bills from Alabama Power Company and that gas prices are really affordable at $2.25 instead of $3.25.

I don't want to sound ungratefull but am I missing something here? It has the reverse effect on me!

All around me i hear people complaining about the economy and how bad it is. Then when i drive to town all i see are "new" houses going up, and people moveing into the old one folks are selling. I'm talking quarter million dollar NEW houses!!!

I'm trying to figure out why everyone is moveing "up" if it's so bad????

I decided to sell some VERY expensive rifles i own, i mentioned that i "may" sell a few on line and i got Emails from buyers starting almost instantly! I'm talking several thousand dollar each guns here!

I've come to the conclusion that folks like to complain (me included) and really it's not so bad out there....

Robert

How many of you really think the economy would look good if they really told us the truth..??

Looks pretty evident that we are being sold a bill of goods.. When we really loose confidence in what they want us to hear, we will find out what we already actually KNOW....we are bankrupt...and NOT just Morally..... BUT...as long as Senators can vote a raise for theirselves every year and have their own "Special" retirement and Health Plan, nothing will change.... FWIW Ron..

Couldn't pass it up. An old farmer once told me, Never let a Hog fill his own trough. Pretty good logic I thought.

Well, gas prices went form 2.14-2.15 to 2.35 here in central Illinois yesterday, really sounds like prices are dropping. 3weeks ago, it was almost down under 2.00. this must be our Christmas present from the oil companies!!!

Yes, what a wonderful "gift." Raise the price a couple of dollars, then lower it about 50 cents and everyone is grateful. Three cheers for the presidential/petroleum conglomerate!

In my humble opinion I believe that when faced with a congressional investigation of their embarrassing profits the oil companies decided the best thing to do would be to reduce their annual profits by giving some of it back in the form of lowered prices at the pumps for a short period of time. I also believe the prices will go back up after the flap of the embarassing profits goes away. Nice Holiday present. I was going to say Christmas but that is no longer an acceptable term in the USA or Australia.

As I recall the oil companies didn't even answer the questions. Talk about a farce.

It is almost funny when the president of BP or British Petroleum said the other day that the price of oil is falsely inflated. Gee, wonder who created that? Could he be pointing a finger at someone?

Back in September or early October Steve Forbes made a statement that gasoline would be at 2.00 or less and oil back in the $50/bbl range before the first of the year. According to him the oil futures market will be the tech stock of this century, kinda like grain and livestock futures-supply and demand has little to do with commodity prices, pretty much controlled by the mutual fund boys and other desk jockeys playing with the futures price.

had a broker tell us yesterday...

these comodity price boosts have been because the "investers" want out of the stock market for a bit.

that means they bought oil and stuff and bumped it up big time..

what I cant figure out is why we need EVERYTHING on that BOARD OF TRADE... I think the oil companies could come up with a price with out that stupid board... and I know us farmers could too. heck the companies use to come up with their own prices... now they say "WELL THE MARKET SAYS---"
all its done is make brokers richer.
