Does anyone here have a mulitfuel stove? How do you like it and what kind do you have. I have been looking at one made by the US stove company.

My folks, and my brother had corn stoves last year, and I put one in last fall for this winter so it"s worked real good, been a while since the furnace has been on. Think these are made in Minnesota, if you have a Fleet Farm store near you I have a guy here who got one there and really likes it..

Run away as fast as you can. I have one, it does work sometimes. This stove is very picky about the moisture in the corn and I do not beleive it well burn straight corn have always had to mix wood pellets with corn to MAKE it burn. Customer service is poor, bad, terrible, you get the idea. I am a directer at the local co op and bought it there, the company will not take it back. Have had the stove since october. Will not go over heat setting 4 out of 9. I am going to throw the stove away after this winter. Would never consider selling this thing it is a pile of junk. Oh did I tell you customer service SUCKS.

Dont know if this what you mean by multi fuel but my furnace is electric heat coil or geo thermo. Use the geo thermo all the time if the weather is -10 and wind blowing I might have to use the heat coil. It costs about $350 a year to heat and cool my 1800 sg. ft. house. Cost about $ 4000 more than a regular LP furnace to install. It will pay back in about 4 years. And that was when LP was $1.00. No wood or corn to worry about. Only way to go in my view.

I just bought a Harmon pellet/corn stove. But I don't have it yet cause there on back order. Even if it cost $2,000 at todays fuel price you should pay for it in 2 years. If your furnace runs half as much your putting dollars back in your pocket. Just my 2 cents. As for Cowmans suggestion of burning beans, that can be dangerous. My son eats beany weanys all the time and I asure you that you wouldn't want an open flame any where around him.

For that price I would try to find an old Riteway, or something like it for a multifuel stove. (wood or coal). Should be able to get one with more BTU"s for aboult half the price. Just my $.02
