With the unseasonable weather in these parts predicted to maybe hit 50 around these parts, I am eying up projects that I thought would have to wait until spring. I heard there is plowing going on already south of Wisconsin. And I had to open my mouth and offer to work extra so for the next two days I'll be stuck in a warehouse. About the only complaints I have heard are from ice fishing fanatics. Sure I'd rather be playing with my snowmobile but I just might get the tractor out early. Anyone else getting anything unusual done?

Since I live in Wisconsin. Now is the time for ice fishing and snowmobiling. Not the case this year. Not much for snow and the ice in the southern half isn't safe. Been on Ebay selling beer cans. Sold 4 cans from my basement for over $500 in the past 2 weeks. Nuts what people will pay for rusty pieces of metal. Somewhat like what people pay for old tractors. With the extra $$, I can buy a couple more of those 8n posters you made up. Love mine. Craig

Been around 50 here and sunny. Snow is gone but it's super muddy. Yesterday I walked my fields and pastures and took soil samples. I was gonna chase fence today but I've got too many tractors in the shop to fix so I'll do that, just won't hafta turn on the heat and I'll be able to open the doors up.

we are still putting in new farm tile and fixing some plus, there is a guy just north of us on the IA/MN border that is plowing and is not haveing much trouble. we had 10" of snow to stop from ground freezing and now it is in 30's every day melting the snow away. I'm getting the itch to till the garden! ha ha

Been mold board plowing , should finish chisel plowing today, its really scary, this time of year these temperatures and its not even greasy on top, with no snowfall to melt its gonna be a dry spring.

Howdy,

I'd prefer to see it drop back down into the cold again personally. I haven't started the heavy advertising of my hay yet but the demand that I've had without advertising hasn't been too good. I don't know if that has a lot to do with the warm weather but I know it isn't helping. But the good Lord has always allowed us to empty the barn every year so I am not worried. God bless.

Using this time to fix those little items left over from the summer rush. Hay has been selling quite well this year, with no advertising - Last year I had lots left over, this year, I'm looking ahead to where do I cut off selling to keep a necessary supply for own needs!

it's been unseasonably warm, but very dry here in se texas. yesterday was 73 deg and forecast for today is 75-77 deg. what a winter! anyway, gardening is an all year affair here, but like i said it was so dry for the past 4 months that not much is happening right now, although i did talk to some farmer friends and some are already planting onions in their gardens. next month i will be planting potatoes and greens if we get some decent soaking rains. my garden has been plowed and hilled since last october in anticipation of a winter garden.

Monday night on my way home, I saw a guy out disking a corn field. Had to go down a gravel road to make sure my eyes weren"t playing tricks. I"ve got some work to do on my tractor as well, might have something to do this weekend.

Here in the deep south this is the time for our New Year cool season crops. I already have my seed spuds. Need to get them ready for planting late Jan early Feb. Sweet peas to follow. Father's DayPine tree planting time is also now (Nov - Jan) while the trees are dormat.

Tried the flowers idea late December but due to shallow seed bed and some recent heavy rains washed it all away. Not much lost except for time.

Mind you my efforts are only truck farming and not full scale. Got to show SWMBO that the tractors add value :)

I am also ready to plant some spuds but I am worried about the weather.
Spuds do not do well in heat; that is why we plant them in the cool weather.
Problem is weather is not to cool.
Afarid the plants will get half way up and the early heat will kill them.

This winter has been crazy. We usually have a wet cold (to us) winter but it has been dry and warm.
Got to say a lot of people are happy about it though with all the blue house roofs we have around here now.

Well, no field work here in northern ND but it was 40 above and raining today. 20 below would be more common this time of year.

Oh, yes, and a neighbor is combining sunflowers, between the rains!

Some people are still combining sunflowers in SW Manitoba. Weather has been mild with little snow up to now, but some is on the way.
