I just purchased a 830 with cab out of montana, it's coming to illinois this week. I have seen them in pictures but never in person. evidentelly up north and out west they are common, but here in Illinois they are far and few between. When it was new, did the tractor go right from the factory to another place to have a cab installed? Did john deere even make a cab For the old Two Cylinders? Can it be taken off very easily? Is there any way to know if it's been on the tractor since it was new? How many were made?
If any one has any information it would be greatly apreciated, possiblly a web site? Or you can even call my cell. Thanks in advance

I think JD made some cabs for them too. They did for the R but most in this area had aftermarket cabs put on by the local dealer but I suppose some could have got put on by the branch warehouse if it was close enough to the cab factory? Cab on 830 we once had was made by Meade in Meade, Kansas. Several other companies made aftermarket cabs too by then.

Don't know about the two cylinders. I know that in my early 4020 parts book, each of the several cabs offered are listed with all the parts broken out with part numbers even though they are clearly from aftermarket makers. I don't know if they came that way from the factory or were put on at the aftermarket factories.
