went to use the minnie backhoe today, tractor would start and die, checked the fuel, dribbled out of the line. the sediment bowl screen was coated with a clear jelly like stuff. is this a bacteria growing in the gasoline or something from the supplier? i used brake cleaner and it dissolved easly.

It's not sugar in the tank. Have seen it before.

Clean tank, new fuel, no water, but you got jelly--that"s weird. If you have your own fuel tank that you filled this unit from, and no jelly or fuel problems are showing up in anything else you"ve fueled from your tank and the same batch of fuel, two things come to mind:
(1) did you check with whoever did your tank, telling them what you"ve got, in case they did something new or unusual with your tank?
(2) was it parked where someone might"ve dropped something into the tank as a prank or a get-even stunt? (so I"m paranoid) Good luck; let us know what it was, if you ever find out.

After the underwear-in-the-air-cleaner incident, I kinda thought you were talking about fruit jelly. I saw the title of your post and thought, "Break out the toast!" Good luck.

that tank has been cleaned and lined about 2 months ago, the fuel is only a few weeks old, there was no water in the sediment bowl.

Probably is growth of some organism (algae?). Drain the tank, new filters on the machine fuel system. The old fuel is OK if you can filter it before it goes back into the tractor.

You didn't say if it'd been sitting for awhile, and if so, for how long. Can't say it ever happened to me, but sounds like question is: is the stuff in the tank, too, to slow down fuel getting thru lines, stop up system again. I'd suggest getting sample out of tank (NOT by mouth siphoning!) and maybe trying to run some kind of swab on inside or bottom of tank to see what shows. Could need some kind of cleaning out.Good luck.

Once apon a time I purchased an old 52 Chev. Pickup (Sloroll herself). The previous owners had tried to seal a leak in the fuel system above the sediment bowl with some sort of silicon. It would slowly desolve and leave me stranded with a jelly similar to what you are describing on the sediment screen. She is much better now. It had me stumped for a long time though.
