We had to put our Angus bull down this evening. I found him this afternoon with a broken leg.

He had a great life: he's been servicing cows at our small farm for an amazing 14 years. As you might imagine, he was a monster. He often reminded me of an old leviathan of some sort, a throwback to prehistory. But he was always gentle.

Here's a picture taken during the blizzard of '05.

Rest in peace, old friend.

Sorry to hear about your loss. The Angus bull where I worked during high school would stand near the end of the next irrigation pipe I was going to change, waiting for you to scratch his head with the end of the pipe. They seem to develope a lot of personality over time.

Well, cows may not be people but they can still be a friend just like any other "pet".

Sorry you have to go through this hillbilly.
