Hello, anyone have the "American Farmer" game put out by John Deere?. I see them in Walmart and it is for a PC. I was wondering if it was lame or if it was actually pretty good and challenging?. It comes as a bundle pack so you get the construction one as well. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

The wife was addicted for a while. THere are some callenging scenarios.
It does seem a bit buggy at times. The little guy loves it.
I would give it a 7 out of 10.

I have it and don't like the fact that you have to buy all new, big equipment.

Time goes too fast, too.

It was fun for a little bit, but I never play it because it just isn't realistic enough for my taste.

Oh well maybe my son will enjoy it in a year or two.

I might ask for that for Christmas. I used to play SimFarm when I was little and loved it. American Farmer looks like an updated version.

Yeah, I got the game from some friends for christmas. It`s pretty fun. My ten year old plays it more than me. You start out with so much debt and so much land, from there you buy equipment, livestock, outbuildings, etc. Then you make a go of it and see if at the end of the year you made or lost money. As you go you can buy more land, hire more help, and such.
You can also play different scenarios, where you have to reach certain objectives in a given amount of time. It`s more of a management type of game, than a simulator game. You don`t actually drive the tractors, you just set everything in motion and watch it go. The funny thing with the game is you have to buy all new John Deere equipment(not overly realistic).
I`m waiting til they come out with one called "Junk Farmer" where you can go around to auctions buy old equipment and farm with that. That would be realistic.

Starting out with all new equipment?, I thought it said you could buy vintage equipment on the box too?. Junk Farmer, LOL, yep, that would be about right.

the american farmer delux version allows you to use vintage john deere equipment but the orginal version does not.

Ok, yes this was the deluxe version I was looking at, so how different is that?, does the deluxe version allow you to buy used equipment?.

I have played it. It is fun to play.
One thing I recommend is searching the internet,
and downloading the trainer mod for it.
This way while you are learning the game,
you have unlimited money to buy stuff (in the game).
It makes it easier to learn to play the game.
After that try it without the mod and see how it goes.
Just like real farming. All work and no money.
