I need to move rocks, railroad ties, bridge timbers, etc around in tight places where I can't get the tractor.

Since my back isn't so good any more I've been using a two wheel dolly. Works but leaves a lot to be desired. Is there a BTDT out there who has found a better way?

I've built approx. 500' of stone wall on my property by hand, using only a two wheel dolly to transport stones unearthed from adjacent areas. I don't recommend this to any sane person but it's a hobby with me. If you do work in tight areas with rocks-get steel toe boots !! Kestrel

Find someone younger stronger and prouder than you and tell them its too heavy for them to move!

the skid steers with rubber tracks are unbeatable. Rent one from a Cat dealer or other serious construction rental yard.

Thanks to all who are trying to help. I'm building terraces, 30 to 60 feet long, on the side of a mountain. It's quite steep. Using the tractor I can load materials on the terraces from the bottom or the top. The terraces are three to seven feet wide with trees etc. in the way, so there is no room to manuever. As I said I'm using a 2-wheel dolly but that is so frustrating I usually do something stupid and am laid up for a couple of days.
By the 'tone' of this forum I suspected there would be a few BTDTs out there. Again thanks.

Sounds like you need something like a backhoe or one of those mini excavators. Either one would get what your doing done and save your back

I use my 4 wheel drive Arctic Cat ATV and a Agrifab Trailer I added some length to the Bed on for such work. It has it's limitations but it saves a lot on my 70 year old back. John

Golf cart with a narrow, low trailer.

It's almost as manoeuvrable as a wheel barrow and much stronger.
