Working on the 460 out of my truck and I notice that the plastic tips on two of the injectors are bad. One is cracked and the other is broken.

So, does anyone know where I can get replacement tips? I have tried local parts stores and the Ford dealer. What about running them without the plastic tips?

Thanks Matthew

you CAN run without them . they are to help keep carbon off pintle . Manifold vac can't pull them off, there is a lip in manifold to prevent them from coming off injector and hats from getting into manifold if the do come off . Good idea to have them on .

Perhaps the Ford DOES have a shoulder in the injector port in the manifold, however, I have a couple of GM's apart right now, that simply have a straight bore into the manifold.

The "hats" were put there by the factory, they ARE available, and I see no reason to even speculate about NOT using them.

They are called "HATS", and are PROBABLY in MOST seal kits.

There are guys selling them on ebay about all the time.

Here's ONE such auction... #170049520261

I THINK you can get them from speed and performance places like JEGS or SUMMIT.

You CAN'T run without them, 'cause they snap onto the injector tips, and prevent manifold vacuum from sucking the "O" rings off of the injectors, and into the intake manifold

Thanks Bob,
I will get the parts guy to take a peak in a couple of the seal kits & see if they are in there.

I wonder if they would be part of a seal kit for all the injectors ??? That's the only way GM sells those orings and a plastic spacer they use.
