I need to add a brake controller to my stepfathers 04 f250 post haste. Normally I'd send him down to the place that did my trucks. they put in an activator 2 ( drawtite? ) add the wiring and breaker or fuse.. ends up about 30 minutes anfd 100$ as long as you already got a 6 pin or 7 pin connector.

however.. they are booked and he will nee dthe truck on monday. His truck already has the 7 pin connector.

My dodge used a circuit breaker, and my gmc used a huge fuse under the hood.

Both of them had the option plug under the dash, and it looks like it just plugs into the controller.

Any hints on this ford? I assume, i get the controller, and plug it in.. then add a fuse or circuit breaker?????

I'll likely use the controler that TSC sells. A guy at work has one.. and it is 'functional.. though not as feature rich as mine.. or like some of the other hi-dollar units.. etc..

On my 2001 the instructions along with a new pigtail were in the glovebox. Also had to change a couple fuses in the fusepanel under the hood. Really easy.

If you"ve got the plug under the dash all you will need the do is get the correct (vehicle specific) wiring harness for the brake controller and plug it in. At least that"s all I did on my Dodge.

Wow.. no fuse or CB to add?

Nice.. I had to do those for my dodge and gmc.. not that it was a big deal.. but still had to do it.

I had a customer bring in a new Ford truck a few weeks ago to install a controller. I got out the owners manual to find were the factory controller hook wuz under the dash and to look fer the factory wiring harness that’s spose to come with the truck and spose to be in the dash pocket and as normal the dealer removed it so the customer would have to buy it. Look’in thru the manual it showed the controller to be just below the radio and built in to the dash and to look like a digital clock, low and behold the controller wuz their built in from the factory and the new owner did not even know it. I did see one big problem tho their wuz not a option to select English or Spanish.
