Anyone have any experience good or bad with the automatic swing type gate openers? Sure would be handy this morning.

It takes a good gate for them to work right. Will work best with bearing hinges, gate needs to be hung very level and plumb. The heavier the gate, the more expensive you need to go on the opener. Put an opener on a tough swinging or unlevel gate and you will fight it.

I agree with everything Chad said. We have a Mighty Mule opener for Mom's place where she drives out of the yard and she loves it. In about 6 years, the only trouble we have had was when a chipmunk chewed up the wires.
