I dunno Guys, I just don't like this.

Sure miss my friend not being around here and don't like the fact that he felt he had to leave. However I respect his wishes to do so and wish him well.

He always goes out of his way to help me and even tho I don't always agree with him, I'll be the last one to give the fellow a public lynching like he's been getting here tonight.

Just don't think it is right.

Never, ever once was he disrespectful to Kim or anyone else for that matter. We've lost one heck of an asset and I think we just drove him away.

I really don't know anything about anything, but I really liked the fella. Gave me a lot of good advice many a time. Young guys like me need it. Now he's gone. WHY??? I still really don't understand it? Everbody gets wwwwaaaaayyyyy to bent out of shape about stuff that doesn't amount to a hill of beans if you ask me. I think everybody ought to step away from the keyboard, drink a nice cold beer, cool off, and get a life.

I had no part in any bloodletting or butchery, but if a guy wants to go, far be it from me to beg him to stay. I know if I really wanted to go, I'd simply disappear.

Allan,

Couldn't agree more, and I couldn't add much either. To think this whole fracus started over a simple answer to a simply question.... and went downhill from there. I really just don't understand it all.

Allen, I fully agree with you!

After reading some of the various negative posts towards Howard on this site, it reminds me of stories I've heard of how "hyenas" attack when they turn on a member of their own pack, and it's very sad indeed.

I'm fairly certain a private email exchange with Howard from the administrator of this site, would have prevented the "hyenas" on this site from attacking one of their own,.... but, I'm afraid we'll never know for sure now.

I think Howard is showing great restraint, by not responding to the negative posts on this site,.... and for that, he has my utmost respect.

I know what you mean, I miss his posts and I miss him. But I respect his choice.

I always thought he's a heck of a guy, but I know how he feels, been there before myself and I hope I left there with as much class. He has my admiration and respect. Irony is, it was a church I had to leave. I ended up at a place that I am far happier, and they are still wallowing in the mess that they made for themselves. I guess there is karma.

Its interesting to look at the IP's of the people on his board, amazing how some of the biggest ones trying to lynch him here are over there with different names.

Been coming here over 8 years and never had any dealings with Howard but had grown to respect him.He made many friends and supporters here. Therein may be the problem as his later posts show an ego not seen years back. The I'll take my ball and go home syndrome speaks for itself. From the outside looking in I'd have to say his last postings were disrespectful to Kim. We can only hope if he's the guy we think he is he'll swallow hard and come back.

Yes Sir, I know.

But, everyone is missing the point.

Isn't about Howard, what he did or didn't do, whether he is right or wrong, and it isn't about the Matriarch or how she handles the rules around here.

There are some fine people here, but what really stuck in my mind was the public butchery and the openness of the "kill".

Isn't about how the Cowman conducts himself or his affairs; more about how we respond to it.

The public bloodletting just really surprised me a little.

Just remember, when you first came around here, there was quite a stir. You did things different that the regulars were used to. You made quite a change to this forum. Single-handedly.

There's a lot of good people I used to know that don't come around here since then..... .

Life goes on.

Hi Paul,

I'm sorry, but I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Could you expand on this a little more?

Someone left on account of me? I don't like that thought even a little bit. :>(

Thanks for any light you can shed on this matter,

Allan

Old news, water under the bridge. Not trying to stir anything up, but how it was. You came on pretty strong those first months, and your cheering section was kinda out there, loud, off-topic, &, well, out there. There was a real changing of the guard around here. Much less 'info' these days, lot more 'fun' talk.

To each their own.

Kim had to work pretty hard to deal with all that. In the end, there were as many people coming around, so she loosened up the rules a little to accomidate your crew, and here we are. Allan, with all due respect, you'da have to had a brick fall on you to forget all that. People were emailing, people were looking for a new place to hang out, and so on. I had a fellow send me emails on some conpirosy theory that you were the center of, & other stuff..... It was pretty riled up. Lot of folks either faded away, or stomped out. Cowman's deal is only 1/10th of all that back then, it got pretty ugly.

That's how it was, this is how it is, and I'm not complaining. Not crying about it. No big deal. A few of us adapted to the new ways, and a few left. I've tried to be totally civil to you & your friends, & I'd hope I get treated the same, despite the one message aimed at me already.....

Things change, as always. Not a bad thing. Just how it is. Here we are today, & we move forward.

Kinda funny how history repeats itself - I felt like you do back in October of 2004 when things heated up, when you & the others showed up, & some of my friends faded away..... Don't mean anything more than that, not looking for anything at all.

Have a good one.

I'll be darned.

All I remember is that some ol' boy down in Florida didn't like the idea of me putting up pictures and just carried on something awful. Screamed and called me all kinds of names.

I just thought he was some kind of a crank.

Oh, and by the way, I don't carry around a trainfull of friends in my back pocket. I know one local who is on this board and have visited with Colorado Curt when he used to be here.

Other than that, I've never laid eyes on any of you folks.

Hmmmmm m, I'll be darned.

I bought a set of Ford pie weights, missing 2 pies, but the discs & the special bolts were there, for $12.50 at an auction a few years ago. Thought that was pretty good, they were actioning, turned a corn down a building & no one caught up with them exactly. No Ford fellas in the crowd either.

Last summer I was bidding on another set, I went to near $200, they sold for about $375 or so. That was maybe a little cheap even yet, but pretty close to normal price.

Cowman always has great posts. When he put up his first message about his new board, I immediately went over there and registered. Although there were only a few posts on his board at that time, they were very interesting.

However, when he came back over here, it seemed to me that he was being very disrespectful to Kim and seemed to be attempting to draw users away from here to his board. (I have no idea why anyone would do that, but it seemed that way to me.) When he posted on here that he already had 100 registered users on his board, it really struck me the wrong way. I immediately went to his board and told him to make that 99 users - take my registration off his board!

His further posts on this board have convinced me that I made the right decision.

At least, that's the way I see it.

Yes, a heck of a man and a friend in deed. I haven't been around much lately and I haven't got to these lynching posts you are talking about yet Allan. If someone is bad mouthing Howard AKA Cowman They don't know the true character of the man. He drove miles out of his way just to say howdy to me a couple of weeks ago and left behind a Christmas gift I will surely enjoy and share with even more friends soon. His dedication to the hobby goes well beyond making a dollar on old iron and is reminiscent of the farm people I grew up with long ago. A handshake carries much more significance with those people than most today. IF Howard leaves here I am sure I won't be here as often either. As far as ego. That is just silly. The man is as humble as they come. Perhaps his thought out few word responses have just been to accurate for some. No soap box just fact.

Allan, I couldn't agree with you more. From the start this thing was blown all out of proportion and not handled in the best possible manner. I think the fact that Kim's comments to Howard were stated publicly on the forum alienated some of the guys. I personally feel that it could have been handled more effectively in an e-mail to Howard. To his credit, Howard has always said that Kim had the right to say what she said. He didn't argue. He hasn't said anything negative, and he's now doing his thing on the other site. While other folks will be posting on the other site as well, I think that many people will be checking and posting on both. There's room for all and I think it's good to have a choice. Tim

Thank you Allan for telling it straight. After being at deaths door last year, I committed myself to healing some messes I had help create, mostly from he said you said stuff and 3rd party gossip. Just got home from the neighbor across the street funeral. Gone at 58 years old. He and I got into it over petty little stuff and when he got sick and I was recovering in bed he came over one afternoon and we talked it all out. End of discussion! I just don't think this is worthwhile to choose up sides and play he said you said. So I for one extend an open invitation to all involved to come back here and carry on the intended purpose of this site. To share information and meet new friends seems a whole lot more appealing than taking sides and throwing darts. Migraine

And here I thought this ol' internet was a big enough place that it had room for everybody, without getting in a tussle over something as silly as this has turned out to be.

Why I bet there could be a whole bunch of old tractor websites without overloading the heavens.

Yes Allan...I also agree with you.
I've never met Cowman, but then again I've never had anyone else call to personally thank me for a get-well card either.

I agree with what you said Allan.

But I still enjoy it here and it will be a little different without him.

Farmed with my Dad for 30 years and when he died in 99 after a quick illness, that fall was real tough not seeing him in the cab of the truck or combine.

Well 8 harvest later and it ain't so bad anymore.

This year I didn't miss him near as much.

As they say time heals a lot of pain and time will heal this also.

You know, I think people forget this is a faceless form of communication. To easy to make an assumption of a man's character/intelligence from just what you read.

He might not be missed by some, but I think he added alot to the forums.
