My tractor will only inch a little forward or
back. It all seems to work properly from the
drivetrain to the clutch. The problems seems
to be inside the transmission, as if something
won't engage. As I let the clutch out, it will
move a few inches as if it's trying, but won't
go more than that.
It was low on fluid, over 2 quarts, and after filling it, it still has the problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I am not sure if it is in the trans or the rear but there is a set screw that comes out and sometimes gets cought inbetween one of the gears and wont let it go past but there is a top cover to gain acess to the problem

Rich I could be wrong and someone may correct me since it has been a few years since I worked on a lo-boy but I think there is a bolt that goes through the clutch housing and the shaft that drives the transmission it I think if you take the cover off the top you might be able to reach behind the cluch and feel it. I think the clutch gets wore and gets sloppy that causes them to brake that bolt that is what I have had happen at least on mine I even raplaced the clutch and it still broke them once in a while I had to change several on mine when I had it. Thanks for the advice. I will check first
chance I get (Thursday). I have a gut feeling
from your answers that there"s a shear bolt
holding the clutch pressure plate to the shaft
that goes into the transmission, and that bolt
broke. I looked in both the service manual
and parts manual (great expanded views) and neither show one, but it makes sense a bolt going
through the shaft would be there to hold the
pressure plate.
I can"t see it from above, I"ll try to see from
underneath the tractor when I"m getting home
before dark thursday. I will post then.
Thanks for your help- it would be great if the
fix is this simple!

I fixed the tractor today. The problem was
as discussed- the bolt was gone that holds
the clutch pressure plate to the trans. shaft.
It was hard to get at but I was able to do it
from underneath the tractor.

Thanks again,

Rich
