Question: David Bradley manure spreader

I'm fixing up an old David Bradley manure spreader that I acquired last year, and I have a question about the beaters (or "flingers") that spin at the very back of the spreader.

Here's a picture of what I have now:

As you can see, only three of the original six (maybe seven?) beaters are still intact. How would the missing beaters have been angled? Would they have been the same size as the others?

If I can get a sense of what the original configuration looked like, I should be able to some new steel into place.

Thanks.

Ok,

Here's a couple pictures of the beater on a New Idea pto spreader. It was dark when I took the pictures. E-mail me if you have questions or need larger images.

Thanks so much for the pictures. They confirm what I saw yesterday at the neighbor's house: the middle flingers are opposite one another and opposite again from the ones on the ends. Confusing, but I should be able to weld up something halfway similar.

That looks like a nice spreader, by the way. I like that the gears and chains are enclosed. Much safer than the David Bradley "widow maker" design!

I don't have access to a DB spreader, but I've got a New Idea sitting in my yard - did a good job for me last week. I'll plan to get a couple pictures tonight.

P.S. You could always poke through the "Implement Photos" archive and see what you find.

I have a DB spreader which is 4 wheel rubber tired horse drawn that I use with my Haflingers and some times with tractor and paddels every other one up the next down about same angle works good but not a wide spread
