I had had the car in the garage and the whole front spencion was checked for the nois I was getting. So I wanted to be a bit prepaired when I went to the transmission shop thinking it had to be in the transmission. Well I got to the transmission shop this morning and after a 6 block test drive he told me it was not in tranny but the dogbone motor mount on top of motor and that was causing the engine to move just enough to make the exaust system make the noise. First garage and myself just could not figure it out. The noise sounded just like the chatter you get out of a stick shift clutch when it is starting to go bad.

Leroy, that`s great news.
I get a kick out of it when someone comes into my shop thinking they have a big transmission problem, and it turns out being something relatively minor. The best advertising there is.

Had a fuel problem on my '84 GMC 6.2 diesel some years ago- thought sure it was the pump, and a 4 figure repair bill. Took it to my trusty mechanic, turned out to be some little duvisary that needed to be drained or filled or loosened or tightened or something, 5 minute job, no charge. My mechanic said maybe if he was a little crooked, and hosed people once in awhile, his workload would reduce to where he could keep up.
