every may a group of friends and family have been going prarie dog hunting in central south dakota. we called out this year to make reservations and they told us that the 3 counties that we hunt in were forced to poison them on the tribal land. the ranchers that rented the tribal land also had to poison them on their own private land also if they wanted to keep renting the tribal land. so this year our group is looking for a new place to look at going to. does anyone have any suggestions? willing to try most anywhere. this is soething we have been doing for about 10 years and we all look forward to it. any leads would be appreciated.

There's a bunch of them about ten miles southwest of Sterling Colorado. This one pasture is full of them. You might even run over one on the road in the early morn. Jim

Its been a few years but there wer a few places around Dodge City 15 years that offered some pretty good hunting. I used an old Remington 788 in .243 to take my share.

Come to West Texas, those things are every where you turn here. I know of several places around me that they have ruined. Check with the local animal rights people though, I heard they are pretected in Texas. Makes no since to protect somthing that is so distructive and let humans live on the street and starve.

Come to SW South Dakota /NW Nebraska. We have all of the little bugger prairie RATS you can handle. Trap two, turn them loose on a politicians lawn so they can see what a fine little rodent they are fighting to save. Make sure you have a female and male so they breed. Buy the way how many of you are in your group of friends? You have to have a permit to shoot in Nebraska.

I just called the Game & Parks Commision and they said if you are NOT a resident of Nebraska, you need to buy a hunting license : (
Otherwise no license needed for residents.

I don't know if this is a state wide thing or just in my area. I think it is state wide. If you want I get you more detailed details.

Yup, you have to have a permit to shoot the dogs in Nebraska. I don't know what it costs, but it is cheaper than if you get caught without it.
