I have 2 chicken waterers that we got about 3 years ago and then both have started to leak. I had one years ago that was 10 plus years old and it got to leaking but it lasted 10 years or more. Any body else have problems like this whith this cheap junk they make now days. I have 2 of them in the house tring to fix them with roof coating but not sure its going to work. Just venting a little sure wish things where made like they did 40 plus years ago

Dad always soldered ours, but they were old when I was young and probably had heavier metal. Used acid core solder and propane torch.

it's a "throw away world" old. everything is MADE to wear out so you have to go buy more. it's econimic strategy. nobody fixes anything anymore either...'cept us old farmer types. just toss it and get a new one if it breaks.

I would mix up a little JB weld, clean the holes real good, leve it set over night, and you are good to go. Tell the chickens to eat snow while the JB is curing. Stan

Shoot I would need about 10 tubes of the stuff to do that. These things have pin holes all over the bottoms of them. If it was just one or 2 then that would work but its more like 10-15 of them

Is the roof coating we get today good enough? We used to use it on rusted chicken waters and cattle tanks years ago and it lasted a long time. Today's coatings are probably 'earth friendly' which renders them harmless and useless. Jim

U betta look at that stuff"s packaging. Prolly says "use within 3 days of opening"!!! It"s all progress. Your "new" feeders were prolly less money about 10 years on, so taking inflation into account as well, were less than half value as the others when new. What else can you expect when you buy cheap!
Regards, RAB

PS go climb on that roof, but, PLEASE, don"t fall off! Couldn"t stand it if the government had to pick up the pieces!!
