Hi Gang;
Glad to read that All Creatures is still being shown - has'nt been on English TV for years.

A friend who farms in New York state borrows English TV shows on video & cd from his local library - sometimes they have to be ordered in.

The one you all should see is LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE - its been running for years. Comedy set in northern England of 3 old retired guys and their antics. Hugely popular over here. Spectacular scenery and crazy humor, focus' on the lives of senior citizens. A real hoot. Feed back if anyone has seen it.

Cheers David

Yes, David, we here in the States used to roll on the floor over Benny Hill's comedies! Always watched them at home, or up at the Fire Station! Another show i enjoyed was the venerable Antiques dealer/ appraiser and his gang of cronies, name of Lovejoy! I will truly admit that his shows got me started in "Bin Diving" after i retired! Of course, i never got quite as wild as they did, but the show taught me something--there's a buck to be made out there, and you don't have to be dishonest! (Although that might help a wee bit at times!)Sneaky, you might say! I always enjoy your photos, etc. My wife's ancestors came from Wales, long ago. Her sister has traced and met some relatives, who live in Abergavenny, and that area. (Don't know if i spelled it correctly, but its close! Cheers: Rustyj

About 20 years ago, I was studying for the bar exam with another guy every day, and we started timing our study break around a British program(me) called "Rising Damp". It was about the denizens of a fairly low-rent apartment building, each of whom had their foibles. It was very cleverly done.

Hello David,
I got hooked on some of your shows while I was in the UK from Dec 97 to Dec 02. I liked Last of the Summer Wine, Keeping Up Appearances, Fawlty Towers, A Touch of Frost, and even got into the East Enders. Sure do miss them and would like to see more of them but haven't found them on TV or at any of the Libraries. Hope to visit the UK again some day. Have you ever been to RAF Duxford near Cambridge? It sure is a nice aircraft museum.

Jim

Dear David I have enjoyed the incredible variety of photos you have posted. I wanted to show my wife how informative what I was doing can be, and only very recient images are available. Does your photo server time out the images? Missing an opportunity, Thanks for the inspiration, JimN

I'll be looking to see if I can find it. My wife is currently hooked on "Keeping Up Appearances". I think it's pretty funny as well. Cheers.

David, was Foyle's War a UK favorite ? Only a few years old, the English mini series starred Michael Kitchen about fighting crime on the south coast of England during the outbreak of WWII Shown on our PBS Masterpiece theater here. Great stories....even the bad guys had manners..... ..

I watch Last of The Summer Wine and 3 more of the English comedies here in Pa. every Saturday night. When one of the series runs it`s course, they replace it with another series and keep 4 different shows running each week. They have been doing this for years and I never get tired of them. Waiting for the series called Dads Army to run again.

Last of the Summer Wine is a regular on BBC America, thirty years ago or so All Creatures Great and Small was shown on public tv here in South Carolina, I watched the whole series at least twice. I'd happily watch it again; it's so comforting to watch people who know how to behave.
Good luck, Wm

Good Morning David. We get some of the Brit coms on PBS. Are You Bring Served?, Last of the summer Wine, Love to watch Hyacinth Bucket Opps, Bouqet. Poor Richard, don't know how he puts up with her. Couple of others, don't remember what they are called ( too early in the morning to think clearly). Do you get Red Green over there, its Canadian. I'd rather watch them than most of the crap that's on tv over here. Have a good one, Chris
