Fuel additives

I posted the other day about an injection pump problem the fuel shop attributed to the new ULSD fuel and their recommendations to use an additive in the fuel. On their advice dad and I both started running the Stanadyne additive and put it in both our trucks on Friday. I did a little bit of around town driving yesterday and my truck didn't seem as sluggish off the line as it has for the past year or so. It weights in around 30,000 lbs so I tend to notice the power or lack thereof. Getting on the interstate this morning I really noticed it seemed to have more of it's "old" power back. On the ramp I use it drops downhill and then heads up a long hill as you get on the interstate. I haven't been able to get over 55 on the uphill climb in awhile but this morning I climbed it at 60 and never missed a beat. Not to mention stopping in traffic it also seemed to be idleing smoother than it has in a while. So, at the risk of being accused of selling out to Stanadyne I won't recommend their additive but I'll say this. Their additive has proven itself to me, suprisingly in a very short time, and I'm simply passing on the info. I really don't care what kind you use or if you use any at all but lack of use is eventually gonna be profitable to a fuel shop somewhere.

While adding lubricity they will also clean the nozzles. Regular nozzle cleaning can not be a bad thing for the engine and for the pocket.

I have the same luck by dumping in about a gallon of ATF fluid weekly really keeps things clean .

My 6.5 runs great on that stuff too. I usually use Lucas with the same results. You can really feel it when it's loaded.

I only have diesel tractors and no trucks therefore I buy off road diesel. Now I know there is a large debate on here about whether the ULSD is a real issue but is Offroad diesel subject to the same "problems" as the road fuel?

Where is the best place to get the stanadyne additive?

Thanks Wayne for sharing info. Always good to hear about new stuff

I'd also like to know where to get the stanadyne additive too. I haven't seen it around much either. I am looking for some to use in my Jetta TDI, it is supposed to work really well in those and is the only one VW endorses for the Pumpe Duse system. I have been using Power Service Kleen Burn, which has made quite a difference because it boosts the Ceatene rating, which really cuts back on the turbo lag and is much smoother accelerating.

Mine always runs better after I give it a washjob.

Bet I could get another 5mph out of 'er if I'd just break down and wax the silly thing too. :>)

That would depend on the brand of wax.
