Loader speed problem

Hi Guys,
This question is actually on a large garden tractor-hope you don't mind. It's a Massey Ferguson 1655 with a Kwik-way loader. Pump runs off tractor front PTO and fluid is stored in upright, so hyd system is independent of tractor. Problem is that sometimes loader will go up and down lickety split and I can get that goat shed cleaned out in no time. Other times the loader will be slow as molasses. I have changed the hyd fluid 2 times, but I'm sure I'm not getting all the old fluid out. There are no leaking cylinders. The spool valve does leak a bit.
Any thoughts?
Much appreciated!

What kind of goats do you have?

Hardknocks,
We just have 3 nigi dwarf goats. Two gals and one (fixed) guy. They are spoiled pets and really a lot of fun (grin)! We often let them out of their "pasture" and let them run around the yard. More fun to watch then TV!

Does it have a filter? did you change that also?
Is the suction side hose on the pump collapsing.

could be a pressure release valve that is sticking. some were on the spool valve, you could turn em in or out to set the upper limit on the hydraulic pressure.if it sticks open a little, some fluid will bypass the spool valve.

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but anyway...The loader does not have a filter. I've always wondered if I should add one, but I only use the tractor a couple hours every couple of weeks. I don't think that hose is collapsing, but I'll check close next time. I'll see if I can find that pressure release valve.
Thanks for the help,
Much appreciated.
Marc
