I plow garden With turning plows in January giving it time to freeze a few times to break ground up then in April I run rototiller over it . I have Sugar Snap Peas, Cabbage, onions, Lettuce & potatoes out we can't plant, plants that frost will hurt until after 10 of May in these parts .

I plowed the garden last weekend and disked monday. I still need to disk one more time and run a spike harrow to level it, but it's rained about an inch so it needs to dry a little first.

This is the first year I didn't plant anything in my garden for almost 20 years. Just not enough rain here in Calif. I guess it is time for the ground to rest. Stan

Garden plowed last week. Today I planted the glsds, asters, sunflowers, onion sets, marigolds, sugar snap peas, lettuce, radishes and some sweet corn (ambrosia). I know it is early for sweet corn here in the frozen north (Petoskey, Mi) It is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow. The sunshine sure felt good today.

Just hit the sweetcorn patch with the feild cultivator and harrow. This will be the 3rd year for this peice in sweetcorn, not what I wanted but how it worked out. Was 30 plus year sod prior to that. When I plowed the corn stalks under last fall I went 2" deeper (7" total) and really got some heavy old grass root systems tossed up in the seed bed. I hit with the digger taday and It is the best seed bed yet in that little feild. I think the old grass roots help hold the moisture or some thing cause that part is twice the producer as the previously tilled and rotated peice right next to it.
