Hi out there,
My uncle owns a zetor 6245. lately when running it it has been running very hot (near top end of green on temp gauge), when not even working (driving on the road not pulling anything) and it is not very warm out.(15 deg celcius) There is plenty of coolant, rad front has been cleaned so air flow through is good. I did notice that when I turn the lights on that the temp gauge jumps 40 deg. Thermostat was changed in past 2 years and head gaskets all re done about 3 yrs ago. What could be the problem. Any thoughts ideas are greatly appreciated!!!
thanks
chris

You said when you turn on the lights the temp goes up I would check the fan belt. That would load the belt with the alt. and cause it to slip more. If it is loose I would replace it with a new one because it could be glazed from slipping. If you can turn the alt. pulley with the belt on it is too loose.

thanks for the replies. muy dad washed the rad out on the weekend and it did not seem to make a difference, but I will have a look later today. I am also going to look into a thermometer to measure the temp.
thanks again
chris

Range 1 Zetors are known for overheating if the radiator core plugs partially with dirt. They have a very fine core that plus easily.Make sure ALL the dirt is blown out then check your temperatures with a known correct thermometer.Otherwise a 6245 is a nice unit.

Sounds like bad temp gauge or bad sending unit. I take it from your post that there is no loss of coolant. You might could tell if it seems hot by looking under the hood when the gage reads high and see if the engine and radiator seem hot, without touching anything of course.
