One more year and I can retire. I'll be too young for SS but I'm hoping my retirement and any extra I can make on the farm will carry us through. If not I can stand in the doorway at Wallmart and say, "Here's a @*$%%$# cart!". Actually my wife was a farm girl and she would like me to retire today and be there to help her out on our little place. I'll be done working off farm for the summer in a week and then come back here about mid August. August and September are really busy months in the retail produce market. I think if I could be around more in the spring and fall we could raise more season extending crops and make a little more money off the farm. So 365 days and counting!

Phil

Hang in there. I know what you mean. I worked for the other guy odd hours, long hours and/or rotating shifts for 25 years before I could make a living back on the farm. It"s a little harder on the pocketbook, but money ain"t everything.

Had a lot of those nights and I'm still working. Mama's been 'here in the dirt' for 25 years and she still doesn't like it much. Town kids are just hard wired different

Been there done that and will NEVER go back. Something about the smell of the dirt, saying hi to your neighbors, and it's a bonus when you crank up your favorite iron and get to do some "work". My wife doesn't get it she's from the city, but I LOVE the smell of fresh soil...

Best of luck to you Rich, I hope you win.

The city is approaching around here or is that encroaching? I am over 12 miles from town and am surrounded now by new houses and town folks. I don't like it. If I win the lottery I am going to buy up everything around here and a new dozer.
