Major Cross shaft

Hi just trying to replace the bushes on the cross shaft 3 point... The cam (bit the ram pushes on) splined to the center of the shaft is stuck fast and no amount of gas or pressing will budge it. Just after some advice if this center spline is tapered and therefore has to come out one way or is it all parallel? Am thinking it will be cheaper to cut this one off and put a new one on than risk breaking the casting.
Any help much appreciated

Not tapered; it SHOULD come out either way to left or to right. They often won't come out either way. Make right certain sure that you can get a replacement part BEFORE you destroy the old one. Some times a sound whack from a large hammer placed at 90 degrees to the shaft will help.
