What can you cut ring shank nails with. Am helping take down a pole barn, got the steel off, started on the wood and it is all nailed with steel nails. Any ideas on removing the nails? Thanks

I had an old pole barn that was put together with those nails. I dismanteled it with a half-gallon of diesel fuel and a match.

Make you a lever to sit against the truss or the poles which ever you are doing first and pry them up or out. You will do less damage this way and can then just drive the nails out. Hopefully the 2x's are not soft and the nails will pull out of the post and the truss instead of pulling through the board. I have take many building down and this is by far easier than trying to cut them.

Get a saws-all [re-sip saw] with a 12 inch metal cutting blade and slip it in between the post and the horizontal 2 x 4 's. It might help to tap them out a little ways from the post with a sledge.

Better get several blades, those nails are tough customers!
