Here is the last of the first cutting going into the wagon. I got this Fox 3000 late last winter and I'll say it's heads above any chopper I've ever run. This is some pretty heavy 3ton/acre reed canary grass and red clover. And that Fox and my 95 hp Massey 1100 stayed right ahead of the guy unloading wagons. And thanks all for the help when I first got this chopper and was getting it ready.

Looks like you got'er swung all the way open- We only do that for changin the heads! When using the hay head, I may swing it open 1 hole, but ussually that's even optional, as long as the tractor clears the windrow. For corn I either run it 1 or 2 holes out. Ussually 1 hole for the 1st round so I don't run as much down with the tractor, then on the 2nd hole for everything else. Nice shots though!! I got to run it swung all the way open for several reasons. One mostly when I mow I lay the hay down as wide as the pickup, 6.5 ft, to help it dry faster. Two on some of my steeper fields the chopper will tend to wanna slide back behind the tractor. Three it's easier to get it to go into the last hole. Probably when I set it up to chop or snap corn I will run it as narrow as possible to get as straight a line of pull as possible.

those fox choppers would bury the gehl or new holland choppers of that time.

Aren't they just a crop eatin' monster!? :>)

Glad it turned out okay for you. It really does seem to be in almost new condition.

Well why put the video up unless you got something to show. That was pulling uphill trying to chop the heavyist part of the field.

In the the good ole days they ran the old FOX cutters with wd45's on up to 560's and thought that was good.

We still got one of tjhose older foxes for the few parts we can get off it for our 3000. The band was new on the parts one not too long before we retired it and a few other things actually do fit. We ran a 1755 Oliver on it but it would plug up becuase it wasn't made for that much HP. I was too young to know to slow down a little more, I'd just go until the 17 started lugging a little. Worked fine in hay & straw, but corn was a killer with that 1 row head and narrow intake. the 3000 was a great step-up, and we got the whole thing, heads and all, for FREE. (other than the needed maintnance to get it running nice again)
