I recently picked up a 73 Chevy C30 with a dump bed on the back. The bed is hydraulically lifted, with a PTO powering a hydraulic pump.

Right now, there is no way to control the pump. There's a lever on the pump that has about 4 inches of travel, going two inches either way from a center detent. Also, there is a small 3/4-inch hole in the floor near the shifter. I assume that there is supposed to be a control cable that mounts in the floor to connect to the lever on the pump.

Is there a specially built cable for this sort of thing? The thickest control cable that Farm and Fleet had was still pretty flimsy. I know I could probably make it work, but it would be nice to have the proper part.

If you have a Chelsea PTO the shift covers are different for mechanical linkage and the cable control. If it is a Chelsea post the model number and if nobody changed it so it corresponds with the model number on the tag I can get you the details.

Look at Baum Hydraulics. They have most any length and are sturdy enough to run the PTO shifter as well as the hydraulic valve.

Go to any truck repair shop and ask for a pto control cable. Shouldn't be to hard to find, maybe a Napa store should have one. chris
