I know this is not a tractor topic but I need some help and you guys have helped me with a lot of my problems. I bought a ranger boar with a 200 hp Evinrude motor and I pump the fuel bulb up and it will run for 4-5 minutes and then die. I pump the bulb up again and it does the same thing. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong

Another possibility that comes to my mind is a plugged / fouled fuel filter. When you use the primer you force fuel through the crud in the filter but the pump can't pull fuel through the filter. This was common on Johnson / Evenrudes 20 years ago, they had a ceramic filter in the fuel bowl, easy to change even on the lake.
Might be worth checking.

Alan try over at the MarineEngine.com discussion forums. Setup like this site with different makes available. The links to the forums is about the middle left at the top of the home page. You should be able to do a search for the topic to see archives. Otherwise just post a new one.

Second issue which is more probability. On the internal fuel tanks with the check valve through the hull. That check valve assembly must be removed with the high horsepower engines. It causes too much restriction in flow and will collapse the bulb. With one in the fuel line, there is no need for a second.

You have a vacuum leak. Replace the bulb and the hose and the two end fittings. You're evidently losing prime.

C'mon guys. You cannot, by definition, have a vacuum leak. If there is nothing (a vacuum) it cannot be leaking. Like - what happens to it after it has leaked out? Where does it go? Will it burn? Can you compress it?
That's right, you can't because it isn't really anything. So remember it is always a leak of something else, usually air. Try to be just a tad accurate in your posts and you might be believed.

i took the seat out to get to the tank and have acccess to all the fittings. I tightensd all connections and put a new bulb on the fuel line. The boat has 2 tanks and a valve swith to where you can turn fuel on to one tank and then switch to the other tank.So thereare 2 seperate lines going to this valve switch and then one from the switch to the motor. This morning I took it out and it ran good and never quit and fished for about 15--20 minutes and started it up and ran for 1/4 mile and it missed and quit and the bulb had nothing in it. We pumped the bulb up and it started and ran good????? ?????

Why can`t you have a vacuum leak? If a system is designed to operate on a specific amount of vacuum and there is in-leakage of any fluid, say air at atmospheric pressure, isn`t this a vacuum leak?

It seems to me that the only point of your post was to be obnoxious and it appears that your mission was accomplished.

Sunk as in sonkin air, lou"sin its prime, worn out o-ring on hose fit"n N, cracked hose, bad check valve in bubb primer, Best just replace the hose assembly they do fail. Whut happens when you squeeze the bubb primer and let up

I forgot to mention, the bulb doesn't deflate when gas is not in it.
