I have a 1945 JD A ,hand start,It is spraying oil out the stack. I'm not sure where it is coming from.I do NOT have a baffle in the air breather(can't find one)(any body have one)? Also I've noticed that the lifters are noisey.I used the tractor only once last year. It has plenty of power, runs good and starts easy. Has good compression .Any one got any ideas?

Was the tractor stored outside? If so, you may want to check your oil level. I have seen several tractors with large amounts of water in the crank case from sitting outside. A high oil level could cause more blow-by than normal and water in the oil could cause more knocking than normal (in addition to being bad for the engine). If that checks out fine I would just run it a bunch and see if the problem clears up.

I had a 135 Massey that did the same thing. One of the seats had dropped out of the head. Maybe the same. Take care
