That Cont F226 was used in a ton of stuff; it"d be a shame to let it get away.

In the late 70s I* had a neighbor that pushed about 3000hp (that is the correct #) through the rearend of a 44. It never broke. he had 2 500+ CID chevies one running twin turbos one w/8-71 blower with 30% od. The rear engine had a Crankchaft Co. Billet Crank, and he was pulling across the USas a national contender (appearance money). Sassy Massy was the tractors name. JimN

Where you at? I have a 44-6. Could always use one for parts, or repair.

You need to save the entire tractor. That wide front end is worth some money, and there may be other parts that are in demand. It is worth more parted out than what the scrap iron price will be.

Forgot to add that if that flathead engine (4 or 6?)has any kind of ID tag will see if I can tell how widely it was used. Good luck.

While MH used lots of Continentals, my book (covers 36-49) shows 44 using "own H260G" engine: 4cyl OHV 37/8 x 51/2...a 44K shows for same years with "own H260K" engine, same b/s, looks like all specs in Motor Trk/Tractor book same. There"s also an HD260 engine, but it"s not in my Motor book. Other 44 variations: 44D, 44LP, 44RC used the 260 or HD260 engine but I can"t tell for how long after 49. HTH

Wdie front on it if it sits back and under means its a standrad and can be worth a little more. I know I would try to save it if you have the $$ do so there will never be another one of them made

44-6 GR 3622
Makes it a 1948 G-gas-R-row crop A fairly rare tractor since so many were used to build hot rod tractors out of.
