Update/New Truck E/Brake Problem

First I replaced the 6way plug and adapter with a 7way on the trailer. Guy at the trailer place didn't hold out much hope that I could make the swap. Don't know if it was the gray hair or what.
Got home and did a little googling for wiring diag. Then I remembered look in the dressing room dummy.

Then I found that GMC had thier diag. on the cover flap for the plug. No problem from wiring but that didn't fix the problem.

Here it is. By a stroke of luck, me and little son pulled the left front wheel first. This what we found.

Wire had fell up against the tire and rubbed right through. Spliced them together and tied them to trailer. Worked like it charm!!
I'll be the first to admit I wanted to blame it on the new fangle gadgets on the truck. Sometimes we try just to hard for the easy fix instead of a little dirt and perspiration.

I just battled thru a problem with a trailer brake. Had to cut all the scotch locks out (Folks should B hung no trial for even having them in their possition)

Fought a bad ground on the trailer, come to find the trailer brake was wired in the trailer plug on the back up lite side.
