Well phooey!

Found a rotary cleaner, but it was for an L. Hrumph!! Might have to go see Bob up in ND. :>)

They didn't leave me much in the engine area. Just a large gaping empty spot. Not much better inside the machine, neither.

But, ya know what? This is gonna be a lot of fun! (If I can just get that engine bought from Joe for around $3). :>)

Allen, Is scrap iron about 200 dollars a ton? Was this used as a guide for your investment? I watched a very clean 4400 with both heads go for 1200 dollars about 3 years back. Good item for small acres spread. Keep on, keep on. Enjoy your tales of discovery. Just like going to a flea market, treasures on every table to someone. Nuff said....

If your determined to save that one it would be cheaper to buy another machine to use as a donor than to buy the parts that are missing from a parts yard. Those old gleaners don't bring much
anymore.

If I was in Allan's shoes, I would feel it is almost cheating to just buy another whole machine and transfer stuff over- too easy, and it wouldn't really be "his" combine anymore- the thrill is in the hunt, isn't it?

You're a pretty darned sharp bird, there Mike.

Yep, this one is going to end up "like new" again before it's all over and the dust has settled.

What the heck? It keeps me out of the pool hall and honky tonks. :>)

Hi Ray,

That's really not an issue for me, as I don't like using used parts if I can help it anyway.

However, ending up with a non-functioning, dead combine carcass setting out in the weeds would become a topic around here fairly darned fast. :>)

The only big ticket items that I need are those hi-lift walkers and another thresher beater.

Everything else is nothin' but a normal replacement of belts and bearings and they are cheaper thru AGCO than Wal-Mart anyhoo.

Allan

Yup, buy a gasser of the same serial range as they go cheap, & be pretty good to go & not out anything. Oh, but he does need the diesel engine I guess, let me rethink that.....
