I went to look at a passel of old tractors today. Wondering if any of them are worth anything.

IH Super A Industrial, complete, clean, straight, but stuck, paint poor to non existent, wheel weights, almost new rear tires

IH 460 Utility, 6 cyl gas, complete, straight

IH 460 Utility, 6 cyl factory LP, complete, straight

IH 464 utility, 3 cyl diesel, complete, straight.

IH 2444 Low Profile Industrial, military markings, 4 cyl gas, complete, straight, has thick heavy cast front grille.

Case 430, extremely straight and clean, has water in oil

Some of these machines look like they'd run with a good afternoon of tinkering. All had good rear tires, most fronts were good.

I'm thinking of getting the SA and the 430. I think they can all be bought for scrap price.

Probably so. Bought there before. Last one I got was a '47 I-4 steel wheeled Road Roller conversion, I gave about $60 a ton. Scrap prices are up a little now though.

Heavy cast stuff has to be broken up to go to the mill and the yards don't want to mess with doing it. They are way ahead by selling to someone by the ton at the same price the mill would pay without having to take the time and effort to "chunk" it.

I agree with Glen, take them all or at least let others know where they are so they can be saved. I know if I where close enough I sure would jump on them all
