Hi..i just bought an IH 300 utility, and cannot figure out the PTO lever that is supposed to turn the PTO shaft on and off. The PTO runs all the time, and I want to be able to shut it off, and turn it on when needed. Which direction on the lever is on and which is off? I think my shifter lever is slipping on the shaft and not moving the connections on the PTO housing. There is a pawl which locks the lever too...does it lock the PTO on or lock it in the off position. I can send a pic if needed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Buster

On our farm, we've got a 1755, 1855, & 1600 Oliver, and a 285 & 165 Massey. My brother just picked up a 550. The 1755 doesn't run right now, and neither does the 550.

I take it this one is a 8N being a 1951?

Do they use the tab thats off the back of the water pump with the captive nut for the belt adjustment?
