I picked up 500 gallons of used but clean refrigerant oil (used in big chillers) for free from a Craigslist ad. It is similar to hydraulic oil but is formulated from a different stock. It will not wax up. I am running at about 10-20%.
I can't see any performance difference. I assume it is adding lubricity and will also lower the gel point. I'll bet that most HVAC contractors have to pay to have it hauled off.
If anybody thinks I am nuts, I like to hear from them.

Hey rednekelmo
Any auto store should have the additive.
If not certainly a truck stop, and the size that you need. Guido.

these are mode more for big rigs. i havent hooked the thing up and tried it. if my truck has a return line ill be good. i guy i work with use to run fuel trucks for 20 yrs. he put one around his fuel filter. they make blankets to go aroud them. i dont think they would work on newer trucks??? on my truck the fuel seemed to gel going to the filter and then have problems in the filter. the newer fuel seems to gel at 0 degrees. i had kero and anti gel in it and still did it. so im going to try this. the guy i work with put this on his and never had a problem he ran just the anti gel in the tank with none cut fuel. the box says it will work with uncut fuel to forty below. i hope i dont find that out in pa but ill see how it works.

i know what ya mean, its a pain to guess how much out of the quart bottles to splash in when ya only have put 20 gallons in a diesel pickup, what i did was take an old sta bil bottle which has the long neck and measuring part ya squirt it up into by squeezing, and carry that in the truck filled with fppf brand treatment works good and no mess

I would be careful about adding ATF fluid because of the color. Around here the DOT pulls samples of your diesel fuel and if its not clear you get big fines. On road fuel (road tax) is clear. Off road (none taxed) is pink or red.

Ordinary gas line deicer or methyl hydrate works, you can mix a quart of automatic transmission fluid into some diesel fuel and add to the tank.ATF has an affinity for moisture and will remove it and lube the pump at the same time. Carquest has diesel fuel conditioner which cleans the injectors as well. The de icer will remove bacteria from the fuel that live only in the water in the fuel.

The cheapest that I have found is FPPF, I never had a freeze up in 10 yr of upper mid west running.
