I bought two sets of field and road about 2 1/2 years ago and the tire man said at that time the field and road would be discontinued in about two years.

Have just bought my first set of SA11 . Been waiting since april for field and roads, and they ain't coming! These came up,so I took em'. Hoping to pick them up next week. Hour and half drive to get them, and cheaper to float the tractor to town to change them over. FIL is just shaking his head at what it takes to save a buck now. Kent in NB.

My tire guy says they are not making them anymore in the bias types and are concentrating on radials, he says the Field and Roads are a done deal.

In most of the larger sizes they have merged the Traction Field and Road with the Super All Trak to make only one line called Super All Trak II. So the Field and Road gets a little better tire in that the lugs are the same size but more of them. But the SAT has the same number lugs as before but they are smaller. The SAT was one of my favorite tires and I hate to see it go.

Re: firestone tractor tire rumors, production line savings in reply to iowa_tire_guy, 12-21-2007 04:19:27
If the company uses fewer read mold designs. And just uses the radial treads on both the radials and on the bias carcasses. Firestone can save a whack of money on production line investment. This will assist keeping production in America. I wouldn't complain. Anyways, bias tires are only good for restored antiques. Or an odd job tractor that sees work only a few weeks of the year during peak season.

I tried to buy a set just 2 months ago. Certain sizes are already out of stock. (Most POPULAR sizes are gone) Dealer, who sells a BUNCH of Firestone tractor tires said they're gone and won't be coming back. I was told basically the same thing by a Firestone rep at the National Farm Machinery Show 2 years ago.

I don"t know if they have stopped making them yet, but my local farm tire store told me that it would happen. He said that they would be replaced by basically the same tire with closer spaced lugs, looking kinda like a radial. That"s all I"ve heard.
