Bill,
Trust me I am with ya. I am at 15.6 cents here.

Nuclear plants make money and darn sure if I buy one for my home I want some of that money as well.

I read a while back that some where, maybe Canada, wanted to make all their electricity from nuclear. And save all the fossil fuels for moble things. Sounds good, don't remember any costs though. Jim

Bill,

True but look closely at your bill and see how much you are paying for generation..... ... Lot of that 13.9 cents come from transmission... tariffs...etc

chris, you are right, after looking at the bill i see how its broken down.but we are still paying 7.5 cents a kw without all the other charges. guess thats the price you pay when you live in ny state. by the way, western ny generated power is sent to ny city and there total rate charge is lower than ours. go figure. bill m

Actually, I've seen information from some "Tree Hugger" groups supporting, if not downright demanding, more nuclear power. Seems that many have realized that nuclear energy is the only viable alternative power source to all of these fossil fuel burning, greenhouse gas spewing power plants. Lesser of two evils, I guess.

Most of the other industrialized nations-France, Great Britain, and Japan to name a few-get the majority of their power from nukes.

Cool! But if you sit down and think about it, 5 cents a kWh is no bargain. In some places in the US you can buy it cheaper.

If any thing you should be making money with the thing. Know any nuclear plant that does not make money?

Power in my area is 6¢ KwH but most billing periods (2 mo) I don't use the minimum so they charge me 6.5¢ KwH for what I use.
