I"ve got a 61 3010 gas with a Zeinth carb thats been rebuilt, replaced the coil, points, plugs and switch - got plenty of fire. the tractor starts pretty well when its about 30 degrees out - any colder than that and i can"t get it to even fire. when it does run it"s a little rich. any idea"s?

try adding a block heater the FIL's 4010 starts great now ,but the post about the battery and starter are a good place to start look there first have the starter tested .

Is it rolling over fast enough? Our 3010 wouldn't start with the long skinny battery in it so we cut the brackets off the original battery box, which was junk, and made one for an automotive type battery, 1000CCA and it started fine after that.
On our 3020 we still have the long skinny battery but learned the biggest one Tractor Supply could get us was 400CCA and the one from the Deere dealer was 680CCA, starts a lot better. Also put in a new starter.
If your starter is drawing enough from a weak battery it is possible that you are not getting a good enough spark out of your coil to light the rich charge.
One more thing is to try to take the front hydraulic pump out of stroke to get a little more cranking speed out of it.

If you havent allready checked make sure the choke is closing all the way. I had the cable slip once and it liked to drive me crazy before I figured it out. bill

This is a shot in the dark but does this have the electric solonoid on the bottom of the carb.? If so I would probably start there.
