Yes but it lasts about 1/2 as long,Thats how it was in over the road trucks anyway.Where it gets real cold you have to have it mixed with diesel to even get it to run.

I drove a delivery route each night for a while and I had a 4900 IH with a 466 and if pushing bad winds I would stop along the route and pull up to the kerosene pump and put in 20 gallons or so to get me to my fuel stop .it will give you less power since it's thinner and the engine will also burn a little more fuel bacause of this also

#1 diesel IS a mix of #2 diesel and kerosene - it's been used since compression-ignition engines were invented and had to be run in cold climates.

Opps

Forgot to mention that JP-8 does have a lubrication additive.

Military got rid of diesel back in the 90s and now runs all diesel vehicles on JP-8 which is more kerosene then diesel.

If it were mine...I would pour about a quart of 30W for every 5 gallons.
Just my 2 cents...the injector pump needs the lubrication.

Bill46, I agree, that's exactly what I would do..lubes the pump, give a little more energy to the fuel and it sure as heck won't hurt anything! A friend had 25 gallons of stove oil..I used it in my tractors with oil added, it worked well!

Seems I remember back in the 50s dad ran out of diesel picking corn and all we had was stove kerosene. He put I think about a quart of oil in each 5 gallon of kerosene...got the corn crop in.

I ran a Toyota Landcruiser with 4 cyl diesel engine on Jet A for 35000 km and never had any problems. It did have a little less power than running it with diesel.

One of my neighbor's was in the Air Force and had one of those stubby trucks for pulling mobile homes and he filled the big gas tank with 140 octane aviation at one of those AF bases in Florida. He said he had to stop and add a little regular once in a while when he was coming to MD.

I have run more than 50% in really cold weather, no problems. 10 or 20 % is no big deal.
The only downside is that there is not as much energy in Kerosene as there is in Diesel Fuel.
Deisels can run on anything from Vegetable oil to Jet Fuel with no real modifications.
But if you have Roosa Master or Bosch distributor-type pumps, lubrication can be an issue. So keep the proportion of kerosene reasonable.

I would mix it with diesel fuel. I had 5 gallons of kerosene and I'm adding one gallon everytime I fuel up the car. Runs good too. Hal

yes. When I had a fleet of trucks I always ran up to ten percent kero depending how cold.
