I have been reading through some old discussions about putting a D-301 out of a IH 715 combine in a IH 560, will it work because thats the boat im in? I have a 301 out of a 715 we sent on siesta in china and I want to put that motor in our 560. The only thing that worries me is that the 301 has a hydraulic pump mounted on it, can I take it off and will the fly wheel give me any troubles?

If the 560 was a diesel it had the D282 engine in it. The 660 also used the D282 turning an extra 400?rpm. and using a slightly bigger radiator. You might want to compare radiators when making this swap as the bigger engine may need a tad bit more cooling cap.. Armand

I have put a 301 diesel off a 715 combine in my 560.You will use the front motor plate and timeing houseing off the tractor motor and also the rear motor plate. Also you will need to put the cast iron oil filter base and cooler off the tractor engine .You will have to bore and plug a couple holes in the 301 block for the filter base one is bypass and one for the drain back.

Don't know specifics about the swap, but physically I think you can. However, that being said, I like the 560s but they are not famous for being overly rugged in the trannys and finals. I think that the 301 has got a lot more fire than the 263 it is replacing. While it is true that 560s with hundreds of HP are tractor pulled, it is usually at lesser weights than they are customarily worked at in the south forty; and for mere fractions of time. HTH. best, Yeoman
