A friend of mine who was fired from Chrysler last August, (because he is a White American and not a low paid immigrant) was informed by some guys in the finance dept at Chrysler that the Jeep Brand will be sold off and the Dodge brand too and the Chrysler name will be gone and then Chrysler will be no more. So much for the Cerburus holding company doing the right thing for an American company. Cerburus also owns Remington, Marlin, Panther, and Bushmaster firearm companies. I will suspect that these gun companies will be destroyed if Cerburus holds onto them for a few years. This makes me sick.

Have not worked at Dodge,but any big company that I worked for has always said they are going to get rid of the department or the line or the job I worked at.I think they try and keep you depressed or in a hopeless state so you work for less money,wont strike,or ask for more money or benefits.

Don't know why Chrysler would bite the hand that feeds it. The Dodge minivans and pickups and SUV's are the vehicles that have been the profit makers, or maybe I should say they have lost the least amount of money.Jim

Ah, but where would Chrysler be if Cerberus had NOT taken it over? Chrysler proved to be a huge money pit for Daimler and Daimler was ready to do just about anything to dump Chrysler. They actually had to PAY Cerberus to take Chrysler off their hands!

Whether or not the Chrysler brand sticks around depends on them producing vehicles that will sell, not whether or not Cerberus "does the right thing". GM dumped the Oldsmobile brand (at the time, the oldest american automobile brand still in existence) because nobody was interested in buying Oldsmobiles.

As for the venerable Jeep brand, it has changed hands many times before. Four companies have owned this brand, if I count right: Willys-Overland, Kaiser, American Motors and Chrysler. I'm sure Jeep will be around for a while.

I'm not sure if they finally tore it down, but at least until very recently the old Jeep plant in Toledo still had a smokestack standing that had "OVERLAND" spelled out in its brickwork. I always got a kick out of that everytime I drove by.

Damlier tried to unload Chrysler but no one would buy it because of its pension liabilities.

That would absolutely not happen in a union auto plant. There is far more to the story than we are hearing.

don't jump the gun. i was reading today the dodge
will proably be dropped as chrysler has to many brand names. chrysler wants to do away with duplicate products
to reduce production costs. less choices for the paying customer

Drove or took a really good look and a Dodge pickup lately? For someone going out of business they really build one fine truck. If you know anything about Mercedes Benz engineering you'll find that the influence while they owned Chrysler made it's way into the design of the Dodge truck.

On Dodge, as a brand, I liked my '98 so much I bought an '05 quad cab; kept the '98; wasn't near worn out. Then my wife's Tahoe was showing it's age so after looking at SUV's and prices, I gave her my '05 and traded the '98 and the Tahoe in on an '07 short box, two door, Hemi, Chrome spoke wheels, candy apple red..... ....wooooo ola, I'm a kid again..... and saved about $15,000. She's in the local garden club and needed a truck anyway; should have seen the back end of the Tahoe.

I don't know if this is gonna happen right away, but I think it might happen in the next year or 2. Look for GM to buy Jeep, for a Jeep/Hummer combo.

I worked at MAYTAGS FOR 21 YEARS and saw people walked out for no reason.A strong UAW plant the union wouldnt do anything.,Think WHIRLPOOL AND UAW were making deals until plant got closed.There were a lot of things going on that werent right,but union would do nothing!!!!! !!!
