This may be a silly question but how is a PTO Hydraulic pump usually mounted? Do people make there own brackets? To what should it be bolted?

Also, I have a 55' Ford 850, would 21 GPM pump be too much?

thanks, joel-

The specs for the 'Prince' HC-PTO-1A are - 21 GPM @ 540 RPM giving 2000 PSI and requiring 32.1 HP. 8)

Just to reinforce what the others say- you mount it loose! Simple angle bracket and chain to hold it in place and let it wiggle. Anytime you mount a pump solid- it better be aligned darn near perfect- then the lovejoy or chain couplers eventually wear out. Hydraulic or sprayer pumps on a pto shaft just float like in the picture. The pump will wear out before the mount.

21 GPM is good for a loader, depending on the size of the cylinders... if you have a smaller loader with smaller cylinders it might go pretty fast.

To mount, bolt an angle iron to the side to hit the drawbar and slide it on the PTO shaft. Loop a chain around so it can't slide off.

Mine mounts with a chain to the drawbar, some pto shafts are not perfect. The chain allows a little "give" if you will. Gary

Need more info to help you much. They make a good number of different mounts for them plus you need to say what your going to be doing with it to tell you if thats to many GPM or not enough. For a loader its to much but for a log splitter about right. Plus a Ford 850 does not have live PTO so for some stuff that is a problem

Any place to mount a crankshaft driven unit? Is the pto live?

No live PTO, but I'm going to use it for a log splitter, 4" cylinder.

I was considering a prince pto pump, see link. Not sure how I would attach it to the tractor. I'm sure I could fabricate some sort of bracket but thought maybe that was making it harder that it needed to be?
