Just wondering if anyone was having any issues with the new generation of F-150s. My girlfriend has a bone stock '06, base model, crank windows, manual 4wd shifter on floor. The truck has 35k on it, 1k before the warranty is up. Lately its acting like the the 4wd actuator is engaging, at high way speeds. Makes a god awful squeeling sound, sounds like both front wheel bearings are going. However its instant, sometimes it will do it for a few seconds, other times, for miles. The truck has already been to the ford dealer once. She thought it was the trannsmission, they said it was for wheelbearing and they replaced the 4wd actuator. Anyone else seen this problem?
Its going to a different ford dealer tommorow. Thanks, -Mike

Had 99. Even manual on floor has electric switch. Mine went bad. Erratic operation, changed it myself against Ford recommendation. That was it. Think your hubs might be vacuum operated. If so, maybe something is turning them on.

Dad's 05 has the electronic transfer case (rotary switch on the dash) and he has had problems a couple times now. Won't kick in to 4x4 and when it does it won't kick out.

Finally found a dealer that installed updated parts and told him to kick the 4x4 on at least once a week so it doesn't "stick."
Give me a big lever and lockouts up front any day.
