I've been an injured worker for almost 7 years with a bad back injury, from work. I've been out of work for this long. I also have strict restrictions. No heavy lifting over 25 lbs, and no prolong sitting or standing, over 15 to 30 miniutes. I've tried reatraining, and I couldn't finish, and workers compensation cut me off, because of this. That has been almost 3 years ago, and with no momey coming in. When ever I tried to look for work, I always get turned down. When I go looking, I hobble so bad, and when I'm asked what is wrong. I tell them about my back, and its sorry, we can't hire you. I've tried opening a Repair, and Restoration Business for old farm equipment, and I experianse a lot of difficulty, because of the weight problem. i'm alright if I have lots of help.
My Mother moved out of the area, and she has a boy friend, that most of the time, he and I don't see eye to eye. I try real hard for my Mother, because I haven't seen her this happy since my Father died, almost ten years ago.
Between Cristmas, amd Newyears,I was hospitalized, with bad chest pains. It was't a heartattack like My Feance, and I thought, but it was stress. My Mother owns the 50 acre farm, that I live on. Resently we had our bush logged, and prior to this, I was very very concerned about the bush being mutilatted, by the logging. The loggers did a real good job, not too much damage. It realy botherd me when my Mother didn't care if the bush was damaged or not. Like my Father I have alot of pride in this farm
But I've don alot of reasherch, on the internett, and what I learned was guit alarming. as it turns out , I'm suffering a nervious break down. It has been going on for a year now, and it really hit me almost 3 months ago. My feance is real suportive, as well as my best friend, are very suportive of me.
So any input, your encouragement, support and your prayers, would be greatly, greatly appreciated
Tannks.
Bruce

I sure would like to take the time to thank everyone who sent me your prayers, and your thoughts yesterday, and today. Your coments cheered me up. I take Morfeen for pain, and Effixer for depression. I have Worker Advisors fighting Workers Comp for me. My Doctor, every once in a while needs to be pushed, to get somthing done. He finally agreed last week I need Full Disibillaty. It took a good boot in the pants. So hopefully things will come around.
Your Comment and Your Prayers I found helpfull and very, very uplifting. I'm very greatull to you all. I have saved them in my favoritts, so next time I feel bummed out, I will read them again. Thankyou so much for your time. I realy appreciate it.
Bruce.

Praying for you Bruce. What is your age? If you were hurt on job, you have recourse. Lawsuit is no shame if you have help coming, and can't get it. I hurt my back on job in 1975 and had to keep working 25 more years. Lots of prayer, aspirin till I burned out stomach. Lot of alibis, refuse to work hard jobs. Real killer was stress, though. Get any help you can, where you can. Try to keep movin', however slow. Talk to other people in pain, there are lots of them. I know lady, can't even get out of bed, takes lithium, and calls lots of people on phone and encourages them. I get a blessing just seeing her. If you know the Lord, he feels your pain. I still have pain, do volunteer jobs, real slow.

You need to contact a good lawyer that handles these Worker Comp cases and see what he suggests.
I wouldn't put this off. Hal

First- get to a doctor and tell him how you feel... it's depression, and they can help you with that. Very common with folks with disabilities, so do not be embarassed by it. IT IS NOT A BREAKDOWN UNLESS YOU LET IT BECOME ONE. Get help now.
Second- read the book of Job, then get in a good bible based study group- even if you do not beleive YET. YOU WILL.
These two things will change your life...

Hey Bruce,

Hang in there man. It may not seem like it, but it will get better. I just went through a couple of years of hell with kids medical issues, wife in rehab, and then I had some health issues. Stress is a killer. I have a really good Dr. which is rare these days. The guy would actually listen to hat I was telling him. Eventually he gave a medicine called Kolonopin that is for anxiety. Be careful because alot of those meds ar addictive. Keep praying and we will too.

PS bluedog"s comment was hilarious!

Take a good look at Nancy Howells prayer, read it over enough times to memorise it, any time you feel anxiety coming on think of it. You have to trust God. If you believe in Him He will never leave you

I am anouther one that thinks you should talk to a lawyer about Social Security Disability. 2 years after recieving SSD you will qualify for Medicare (health insurance). This is not welfare, you paid for it in payroll takes. Also try to get into some pain management program at some teaching hospital, perhabs a good surgeon (Neuro not Ortho, but that is my bias and experience)and physical thearpy. I have had 2 back operations at L5 S1, at one time my left leg did not work. The pain was horrible. I also have a Dr note that says not to lift over 25 lbs but I have to problem throwing my first grader in the air and catching her. I look foreward to my annual firefighter physical fitness test. Situps, stretching and strength training are a big part of my life. Back pain can be beat but it takes a positive attitude and the right help.

Geez how can one person have so much bad luck all at once either you are kidding or you need a good Lawyer either way I don't see how complaining on here can get you much help if that is what you need.
Personally I think that you need help but not our help. so i'm going to just write this off as bad day.
Walt
PS if you are so broke how come you have a computer and a telephone service and all the things it take to get online.

Thoughts and prayers from my family to you and yours...

I think most of us have been through what we believe to be long and difficult journeys through parts of our lives... by following the Lord and trusting in Him we have made it through. Keep the faith and God Bless!

Bruce, don't dwell on the negative try to look for positive in the things you do.Oldhouse is right all you need to do is look for some helpas it out there I know firsthand. I also take Wellbutrin and it has really helped me,plus having people that you can talk to.Like Old I am also disabled and have learned to do things differently even tho it takes me longer and makes me upset sometimes because it takes so long to do some of these things.Chin up and I'm sure that with prayers from us and the help of friends you will get through this OK.

I have 3 brothers. One is in prison for what he did to a minor in a wheelchair. Another is on deathrow in Texas for things I don't even want to talk about. The third is a member of the United Auto Workers. I'm on parol after serving several years in prison for manufacture of meth. I recently met a woman at a biker bar who served several years in prison for suffocating her illigitimate child. She has five other kids by five different guys. They are all in foster care and she has no interest in getting them back. She is trying hard to kick her drug habit, but still pays for it by working as a hooker. I really think I love her and want to ask her to marry me. I want to come clean with her first. So here's my dilema. Should I tell her about the brother who is a member of the UAW?

Tell her the union brother is a teamster that knows where Hoffa is- that should be socially acceptable.

If you haven't done so you need to try to get SSD. Its a fight to do so but at least then you might have some $$ coming in. It took me 5 years to get it and now live on it which isn't much but better then nothing. I also have a weight restriction of 35lbs but I still love to play with the old tractors. You learn to do things different but at least I can still get things done just takes 2 or 3 time longer to do them

You where the 1 in a million that got it that easy. My problem was partly because my doctor told me I could not work any more then moved out of state and then would not back up what he had said. Any more getting SSD is a rip off to the guy that needs it most of the time. Lawyers, postponements, and the problem of paper work and them loosing it etc. etc. etc.

There was a prayer that I can't quite remember,
but it was a request for help to handle what you could and let God handle the rest. You have got to believe that he is handling things though. You will be gone from this life too soon anyway to keep worrying about everything.

Are you thinking about the "Serenity Prayer"?

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Jesus Also said --- ( I pray for THEM, I pray NOT for the World, but for them which you have given me. ) John 17: 9 So it's clear you have to BELONG to Jesus Before HE will stick with you, HE sure don't have anything to do with the one's who belong to Satan.

and don't stop praying ..... Joe

By His stripes we are healed. Look for ways to turn your injury to good. Keep you eyes on our Lord. He never fails his people. May the Lord bless and keep you. May He turn His countenance toward you and be gracious. He make His face to shine upon you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)

I know what you are going through. I would recommend going to your doctor and asking him if he would prescribe an anti depressant for you. I found one called Welbutrin which didn't make me feel weird and have taken it for a while with remarkable results. I hope to work my way off it as things even out. The next step is to find a counselor who can help you deal with the issues you seem to find bothersome. There may be all kinds of help available to you for counseling thru Medacaid if you can show need. Good Luck

Don"t underestimate faith, but also do not underestimate modern medicine. As someone already pointed out talk to a doc and they do have stuff that can help. Do not give up if one does not work for you. Their are many different things on the market that work in different ways for different people. At some point depression anxiety becomes closer to a broken leg then just feeling bad something may really be physically wrong with your body that it no longer makes the right chemical balance. A lot of people do not seek help and should.
