Warning this article is 6 pages but very interesting. What is everyones take about Monsanto, what do you think. I will leave my opinion out, just want to hear what different parts of the country think. I just wanted to fire up a nice debate since its near lunch time.
The wind is blowing 50 miles per hour and to muddy to accomplish much.
Don't make fun of me for the Vanity Fair source I found this thru the combine forum proboard.

Isn't it amazing monsanto/seed companies can release to the wild what everyone else is required by law to keep contained. Essentially it's a giant lab experiment without responsible containment practices. And why aren't they being sued for that?

Interesting article. Kind of slanted towards the "all big corporations are bad" side of reporting. Like it or not, the GM seed technology is the PROPERTY of Monsanto and attempts to steal or clone their property should be pursued. Any farmer/land owner would most likely try to do the same thing if someone blatantly was caught stealing their property which they depended on for their livelihood.

Actually, I REALLY liked the oppurtunity to view the Vanity Fair photo spread of Madonna !!

Casechev, I think you're missing a point here--we all agree (or should) that stealing anyones property is both wrong and illegal, but stealing isn't always the situation with GM plants.
There's evidence now on record that windblown or insect/bird transported GM pollen/seed can't be contained, and that the GM plants show up where they're not supposed to be...as the Percy Schmeisser (spelling?) and other situations show, Monsanto proceeds on the basis every unauthorized GM plant is stolen, and as long as business friendly courts refuse to accept the transported by nature possibility, no one is safe from such charges if a Monsanto GM plant shows up in one of their fields...

I believe they can do what they want and charge whatever they want for whatever they do.....

If you don't like the company and or policies don't buy stuff from them.....

soon you will have to weigh the supposed yield difference in a NGMO product versus the price of all inputs and really do a smart comparison.....

it is just like the auto industry, if they would make a car that sat a little higher, was bigger than a tuna can, and got mileage better than a 20 year old model I would buy one - but they won't so I won't
