Do you guys think these fuel prices will affect attendance, fo both visitors & exhibitors, much this summer? Most folks I have talked to are going go to the shows closer to home, and be "chosey" about the ones farther away. Just curious!

near me its €1.19 per litre of gas, thats about €5.50 per gallon, whatever that is in dollars, and diesel is about the same, thats car diesel, agricultural diesel is less of course, but i can't remember the price of that at this very moment

Last year I went to the FARM Show in Osgood, The Power of the Past Show in Greensburg, and visited Pioneer Village at the State Fair. This year I may add the shows in Brookville and Rushville. Except for the State Fair, none of these shows are more than 2 counties away.

I will only be going to local shows, but that is all I have ever visited. I suspect that I am typical of most visitors.

I know we will cut back some. We just plain can't afford to hit as many shows as we used to. It is not even cheap to go thru some of the local parades. Put several gallons of gas in a couple of tractors, and the diesel in the truck to get back & forth, it adds up quick! We will support our local shows, and limit the far ones. Just a matter of $$$$ !

OnegoodthiongIamhopingwill come out of it that attendance at local shows will in fact go up. There are several showes this year I use to go to that are on the same days as many bigger shows within 4 or 5 hours from here, that compete with the small shows I enjoy as well, so my hope is that some of these smaller shows will have more people there!

Definitely changing a lot of people's plans in my area, me among them. I have eliminated my plans for the longer trips and just going to closer shows.

I think it has already affected attendance based on last years events. I would spose that it will be even lower this year.

I can't pull a tractor for less than 30 cents a mile, thats just for the gas! I have friends that aren't concerned about the cost, they will go anyway, but they are few and far between.

I agree with you Terry, its already happened last summer at some of the local shows around me..the high cost of transporting show pieces and the priorities of families has cut attendance and exhibitors

I plan to cut back the number of shows I go to by 2/3 this year. I won't be spending any less money going to shows, just doing what the show budget allows.

Normally we would take in about 8 to 10 shows a year, this year I only have 3 must go to shows. The rest will be on an "as funds available" basis.
