Still raining here and they say it will continue all week.

So, I got busy and pulled that darned canopy off the little mower tractor. Looks bad, but at least now I'm not claustrophobic. :>)

Hey Allan, you might learn to hate them rears pretty quick. Get them turf tires on wet or dewy grass, hills, anything and...really start hating them quick. Can't pull, can't motivate the weight, can't do nothing but leave burnouts when they spin. I've got a little AC-B that I mow with around the house with bars that don't hurt much unless I brake hard and turn on a dime, then a divet. But also got a 950 Deere with turfs on it that don't use much, and when I do, I remember why I don't use it so much...them turfs. It does ok hogging along the fence lines, so long as is dry, no steep slopes or ditches. Even mild slopes with wet ground and "!@(&^%$#@ these turfs!" Lot of power loss. One of these days when I have a few extra $$$, them things are going to get replaced. I paid too much for that 950 to drive it back into the corner cussing its turfs. And when I do replace them, I'm taking them right out into a field and using them for target practice. Did I mention I hate them turfs? Well, I've earned the right. I'm gonna get even with them one day, I swear it. Must be a uses for them, but I aint found anyone of them yet. I'm just warning you on the possibility cause you seem like a pretty good guy and I'd hate to see you have the stroke I'm going to have if I ever use them things again, and generally I'm pretty easy going and laid back.

That would be a great mowing tractor. I had a 185 that I should have kept. I bought a Dixie chopper and cut my mowing time in half, but the blowout from the deck on the Dixie drives me nuts. The 185, which is a little smaller than yours, allows you to sit up above the blowing grass.

I think it looks fine without the canopy.

As for my mowing issue, I resolved the problem by "letting" my wife mow. That reminds me, I need to let her know that the grass is getting too tall and she might want to mow.

I still though that tractor was for the "better half" to mow with.

randy, if allans wife is like mine, dont matter what machine it is, when its time to mow, they just seem to wander off. maybe i cant find the right seat for her to sit in, between the cub cadet, lil deere, zero turn, farmall cub, farmall b, the 240 and the m with a woods finish mower, none seem to fit her butt!!! wimmens must be allergic or somethin....

Perhaps you should buy her the tractor of her choice as my beloved James did. I"ve used our JD 55 diesel, JD 52 A, JD 48 A and of course my lovely 51 M. James sort of reserves the Ford 2810 for him since it has the loader and the big Corsicana bush hog. I"ve driven his 43 B, but have yet to put it to work. It has the #5 mower on it and that has become James" specialty. If I"m in the house doing something and James wants to get my attention, all he has to do is crank up a tractor and whatever I"m doing in the house stops and I"m out the door. Its really fun when we"re both on tractors mowing - gets to be kind of a dance. He"ll be going one direction and sometimes I going another, but all timed so we"re not dodging each other. Loads of fun. Forget house chores, let me get on a tractor! I don"t care what kind of seat it has or what needs to be done. The only thing that rivals working one of the tractors is trail riding on one of my horses. Sorry I can"t load a picture of me working one of the tractors, my computer is in the shop again. I"ll load one when I get it back.

That roll bar will still give you a PITA with tree branches. Trust me, I know.

Run some limb risers off the top of the bar down to the front of the hood.

Mike has a GOOD idea. My ROPS on a 3020 aided a limb that about put me over the steering wheel from behind. Forgot about the ROPS and the limb did not go over. Instead it was pushed forward and caught me on the back of the head/neck.

Only took one time training to wake up!
