I drove a John Deere model 5103 today. I think I"m in love. Price is right too. $17,800 with a model 512 loader.

Wish I had bought that 5103 M4WD with a 522 instead of my tired 1640 2WD.

With inflation being real high, I would buy that tractor if you can afford it. How much acreage do you own? That is a big machine I saw one when I bought my JD2305 3 months ago.

We bought a 5203 new in 2006 and use it with a loader as a utility/yard tractor plus haying and smaller field jobs. Not a bit of problem plus very fuel efficient. I bought a new aftermarket loader with quick detach as the JD 512 was a permanent mount with bolted hardware.

I'd like to get a 5303 or a 5403 for doing hay. I'm between two JD dealerships, so I can take it to either. I like my '45 M, but after a while fixing stuff all the time gets old, even just the little piddley stuff.

I looked it over pretty good and it looks beefy to me. Class two three point links are three times as thick as the three point hitch links on my 851 Ford. Front axle is cast iron and bullet proof! The loader bucket will pick the front of the tractor up off the ground. Plus it has hydraulic connectors on the back of the tractor. They will run a log splitter.

No, it's two wheel drive. But there are now weights or fluid filled tired either.

4X4 might seem a little spendy now but you will ever, ever regret the purchase. Particularly on a loader tractor. I about decided on a 4x4 lawn mower tpp after trying to cut grass yesterday on hills.

Thats alot of money for a little tractor! If it were me, I'd find a good used one and save the rest.

Ever check the price of used recently? Why pay almost new price for something 5-10 years old.

I agree, I have been looking all around, and the used tractors are within a few thousand of anything new. If it is under 1200 hrs they want new prices.
