When the fuel prices skyrocketed, it seems that every thing else did to, ie; eggs, milk, bread, steel, oil, ect.ect.... and every one blammed the price of fuel, I am glad that the fuel is falling, but now the prices of every thing else is probably going to stay the same now that they know that we will pay what we have to to stay alive.. ARE WE TRAPPED? would it help the ecconamy if every thing that jumped up went back down to a certain point (maybe regulate). I dont watch to much T.V. to keep up with the ecconamy, I just see what is going on at the stores, listening to people, talk about thier wages not budging, ect.ect.. I just dont want to be taking advantage of, Am I wrong? D.G.

I don't know much about stocks But a freind of mine lost a bunch of money as a stockholder awhile back. His broker said the week before things were doing good, and all of a sudden the money was gone the next. His question was where did it go? After a brief, confusing, discussion niether one understood The broker is still driving his BMW and my freind a Ford.

Another example of ways to recoup money is in place now.
They are selling same size packages of cerial, coffee snack food ie. chips they look the same ,but you have to pay attention to the weight per volume and still charging the same price of the original package. like a 1lb of chips are now close to 14oz.

I can't believe the price of oil per barrel could drop as much as it did in the last week.

Maybe the oil companys arn't as guilty of keeping the prices up as much as the people that bid on things in the frenzy as they do. they are the ones that have to sell for profit.

World trade?? I'd rather barter with my neighbors.

here a thought i had. are they possibly holding the prices to recoup the gas loss and wait to lower the prices closer to x-mas. lower them to normal, so we think its on sale and a deal when its actually where it was before this all started.

if they dropped them now, they have to drop them again for x-mas sales.

Kinda hard for an apartment dweller to do any of that...neighbors complain too much about the cows and chickens.

thats why I'd live in a pickup camper in the country before I'd live in an apartment.Just can't see letting myself be at the mercy of the gov't whims. If you don't look out for yourself no one else will.

If there is enough free market competition then prices may come down some if fuel stays down.In my opinion high fuel costs was the catalyst to put us in a recession.

Roger you are exactly right . I told my wife over 2 yrs. ago that these high fuel prices would bring this country to it's knees.
The media keeps blaming it on the housing market,
well guess why these folks can't make payments.
FUEL PRICES control everything we touch and eat.
Fuel made this mess from the start.

Yup...fuel prices never went up, and stocks haven't dropped...it's all just lies being told by the folks who hate Amurrica. Ain't no banks in trouble, either...just another lie we're being told, like the one about mortgage forclosures being up.

You're either with us or against us...and if you're 70-1/2 and have to sell the stocks in your 401(k) because the law says you must, anyone who says you're not making money on the market over the past couple of weeks is a durned liar...even if it's your broker. And if you choose to believe any of this BS you're being toldby the lying media, you might as well join Al Quaeda of the Taliban, 'cause you're just as much of an enemy as they are.

[See? I learned MY lesson...and now I'm a loyal American who's seen the light.]

people are like a flock of sheep, the shepards are the cayutes and wolves dressed in sheep clothing picking them off as they see fit.
most Sheep think its normal, some learn from the shepards and become likewise.

has been like that since the dawn of time,

I understand and agree with what you are saying....

EXCEPT the regulate part.

We are a free ecconomy, regulation of prices is a horrible disaster in this system.

Fuel prices came down didn't they?

Other stuff will follow. It doesn't always make sense, but the prices get there.

Heck, if we can afford to pay it like you said, then that is where the price should be.

Don't wish for regulated prices. That is a disaster.

We can either have rising & falling prices (our system) or we can have big surpluses & big shortages (regulated govt prices).

I don't like the latter.

My take on this is that the producers AND consumers are taking it in the pocket book. Producers like farmers have been sucking hind teat for a long time. What"s really happening is the large PARASITE factor in the economy. All those who are speculating, handling the money, etc, and not adding anything productive to the economy. This would including the banking, finance, stock areas of the economy. They don"t add anything productive, just suck money off, reducing productivity, sometimes resulting in obscene profits for those who don"t do a thing for producers and consumers. (Yeah, the government is in that list for sure.)

Trapped??? I don't think so. You're playing catch-up. The fella that's been producing your milk, eggs and bread for the past 20 years is the one who was trapped. He's been getting the same price for what he's been producing since the last financial mess. Prices are now catching up to what they should be... and will probably be stuck sitting where they're at for the next 20 years. The consumer is generally the one getting th ebetter of the deal, not the farmer.

i figger we ARE trapped to a bloated self-serving economy and government that hands out money to those who don't need it. we the people, don't have much recourse in this insane economy. about all a person can do is try to grow a garden and a few animals for meat and eggs, watch prices closely and pick up bargains(if there are any left) and live a cheap as possible. we all need certain things like food, utilities, clothing and sadly to say, fuel for auto and heating. between the spin makers on the news and the government almost all gaps for us is slowly and methodically being closed and we are becoming nothing more than mere robots. hardly any way to get ahead nowadays, legally or illegally. only thing for sure is taxes and death.
