I have a 706 that has had a noise in the rearend since I got it 3 years ago. It is most prevalent when you are in reverse. It sounds a lot like a dozer does when it is backing up. That steady clunk, clunk, clunk. When in forward gears there's no noise at all, except occasionally in high range 3-4 gear you will hear something. Most people have said the reverse gear has a tooth gone, probably from someone engaging the parking brake while the tractor was still rolling. This makes sense to me. Someone else just told me that he had the same noise and it ended up being an axle bearing. Before I tear into it, I'd like to be pretty sure what I am going after. Also, how difficult is a 706 rear to work on. We've been into Fords and JD before, but not the Farmall. Thanks for the help. Brian
